I spent seven years taking beach club and boat bookings on this coast, and the worth-it question about Yona is the one I answer most. It deserves a real answer, not a shrug, because the ticket looks expensive until you understand what it is.
The credit maths
The GYG session ticket runs about $60. A standard day or afternoon pass carries roughly 2,000 THB of food-and-drink credit; the morning pass carries about 1,500 THB. Every ticket also includes the round-trip shuttle boat, a welcome drink, towel service, pool access and passenger insurance. Strip those out and the amount you are paying for entry itself is small — you are mostly pre-paying lunch and drinks at a venue where you cannot pop out to a 7-Eleven, because you are anchored offshore.
The catch is symmetrical: the day only feels expensive when the credit goes unused. One reviewer, Gillian, booked an afternoon with 6,000 THB of credit for her group and “ended up not using 1,500” of it. Order early and steadily — Johanna’s review said the logistics were seamless and she “couldn’t stop ordering”, which is the correct way to play a credit system. Who Yona suits
People who want a pool with a DJ in the middle of the sea: couples, groups celebrating something, anyone who likes a beach club but not the beach crowds. The fixed credit also side-steps the classic Patong complaint of an inflated bar bill at the end of the night — the price of your day is agreed before you leave the pier. Who should book a boat day instead
Yona does not move while you are on it, and there is no coral under the pool. If your ideal day involves actually going somewhere, spend the money on one of these instead:
